Answering Your Top CBD Questions
CBD. These three letters seem to be popping up everywhere. CBD has found its way into everything from pillow spray to hair products. That may have you wondering what CBD is, where it came from, and why it’s suddenly all over the place. We want to take a moment to answer some of those questions and help you on your way to a more educated shopping experience.
OK, so what exactly is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is a naturally occurring compound found in plants in the Cannabis family, including hemp, which contains less than 0.3% THC. While there are over a hundred cannabinoids, CBD is perhaps the most studied cannabinoid. Studies are ongoing and the list of potentially beneficial uses keeps growing.
Is this even legal?
Short answer: Yes! CBD is legal in certain states when made from legal hemp. We wouldn’t lead you astray. It’s important to know your local laws regarding CBD products as individual states can still decide how they adopt federal regulations regarding CBD and hemp.
Will it make people high?
Nope. Although, both hemp plants and marijuana plants are varietals of Cannabis sativa and both contain CBD, the hemp from which Ellia CBD oil has been derived has been cultivated to contain low levels of the THC compound (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is responsible for the high produced by marijuana.
Hemp-derived CBD must contain less than 0.3% THC and will not have psychoactive effects.
Is CBD for real or just another trendy “super” ingredient?
We get it. Trends come and go, and we all want something that lasts beyond trends. While it may seem like the latest fad, the use of hemp-derived products for wellness dates back to ancient times. Many cultures have used hemp products for all sorts of applications throughout history. The actual CBD compound was first discovered in the 1940s. The only reason we haven’t seen more of it in our lifetimes is because of government regulations. New regulations have allowed for more research and wider use as long the strict rules and restrictions are followed.
